Hello, we are Steve and Amy Broxey from Makaia Siberians in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

We are a small show kennel that believes our dogs are companions and part of the family first and then show dogs.

     We purchased our first Siberians in 1989 with the intentions to do obedience. Kami was 4 months old when we brought her  home, a friend that has Golden Retrievers (conformation and obedience) convinced us to do some conformation first to get Kami out in the crowds and to see how we would like it. We kept up the obedience classes while we trained for conformation. 

At just 6 months old Kami won back to back Best Puppy in Match and at the other fun matches we went to she would always be in the group placements. 

AFTER THAT WE WERE HOOKED!! 

So with a lot of help from our peers we got rolling into conformation. Everyone was very patient with us and we could have never done it with out them. Thank you.

     As far as obedience went we still kept it up and when Kami got a little older we took her to every fun match we could go to for practice in a show setting but as much as Kami enjoyed obedience she thought SITS AND DOWNS were STUPID! No matter what we tried she would keep an eye on the clock and stand up with 10 to 20 seconds left. You could see the smile on her face every time she would get up and look at us across the ring. A true Siberian through and through. 

      We have had 3 litters of pups in the 12 years since we have been showing. Our goal is to breed quality and NOT quantity. We only breed when we know we will be keeping a pup or 2 out of the litter to show. And then we do our best to find good pet homes for the rest of the litter otherwise they will stay here with us. We believe in being responsible breeders when we take the time to educate and help the new puppy owners for the life style with their new family member. Our puppies are raised in our home and get plenty of socialization. All of our pet puppies are placed with a spay and neuter contract with no exceptions. 

Since we do not breed every year we have decided not to place show puppies and only good quality pets to approved homes. 

    Our show quality dogs we plan to breed have their eyes and hips certified. 

     We have learned a lot since 1990. One of the best things about dog showing is meeting new friends and seeing them at the shows. Over the years we have met some pretty great people and the one thing we have in common is we all love our dogs unconditionally. 

     We have had some bumps in the road and few set backs over the years but loving our dogs is what is important to us and with hard work and doing the right things everything will work out in time.

      This web site has been designed to show you our 4 legged family and we hope you are enjoying your visit. We hope this site shows you how much fun we have with our dogs and it makes you laugh here and there.
